Fish Head
Good evening reader. Thanks for dropping by. Just a quick one this time round. We're well into the Winter period of darkness now, but along with that comes the cloudy and rainy weather and so imaging opportunities have been rare so far. However, a couple of weeks ago we had 24 hours of crystal clear weather so I finally had another chance to get the observatory roof off.
Looking back through my archive, I imaged the Heart and Soul nebulae, but that was using the 80 ED-R which has a smaller magnification that the 115 that I current have on the mount. So, knowing that my field of view is much smaller, I decided to target something that would otherwise be lost in a larger image. Step up IC1795. Also, since I checked last, a new version of PixInsight has been released (1.9.2) so it was a great chance for me to download and install that, along with all the plugins and repositories that these days form part of my image processing routines.
As I was stacking the data, I could tell that focussing is slightly out on the camera, probably as a result of the thermal differences over the summer temperatures. So, next time I have the observatory roof open, the first job is to go through focussing. But, until then, here's the latest image for you to enjoy.
Cheers!
